DESCRIPTION =========== NG User Search (NGUS) makes finding users on Newgrounds easier. It combines four different search tools (Google, NG BBS, NG Portal, and NG Audio Portal) into one easy-to-use tool. Just enter a username you wish to search into the box and click Submit Query. Your search result will appear below, along with a "Click to View Profile" link that will bring up that user's profile. If the user was not found, you will be told that no results were found. VIEW MORE INFORMATION ===================== To use the built-in experience calculator, click the "View More Information" button. Notice that the button now says "View Options/About"; clicking this button again will make the Options and About panels reappear. Once NGUS is finished pulling information, it will display the user's current experience points and level, and allow you to view how many days it will take that user to reach any level. Next to the calculator is a series of links allowing you to view the user's BBS posts, Portal submissions, Portal reviews, and Audio Portal submissions. OPTIONS ======= Use Google search ----------------- When enabled, NGUS will search Google to find the user. Use NG BBS search ----------------- When enabled, NGUS will search the Newgrounds BBS to see if the user has made any posts. Use NG Portal search -------------------- When enabled, NGUS will search the Newgrounds Portal to see if the user has submitted any surviving Flash animations. Use NG Audio Portal search -------------------------- When enabled, NGUS will search the Newgrounds Audio Portal to see if the user has submitted any surviving audio clips. Proxy Settings -------------- If you connect to the Internet via a proxy server, and NGUS doesn't automatically detect the server, click this button to set up proxy settings. CHECK FOR NEW VERSIONS ====================== To check for new versions of NGUS, click the "Check for New Version Now" button in the "About NG User Search" box. WHY ARE THE NG CHECKBOXES DISABLED? =================================== NGUS has a built-in kill switch to disable Newgrounds searches in case of disputes with the Newgrounds admins. Each time NGUS starts, it checks a remote server for a kill-switch file. If NGUS can't find this file, or the file contains the kill command, NGUS will disable the "Use NG BBS search", "Use NG Portal search", and "Use NG Audio Search" options. If these options have been disabled, try clicking the "Reset Program" button in the About box a couple of times. If the options are still disabled, then the kill switch has probably been set.
