When you press a key, the program turns to a color of your choice, and can make a sound if you want. When you let go of the key, the program turns back to the original color (also your choice). WHAT'S NEW ========== * Tab, Windows key, and Pause error correction * Windows key lock * Adjustable settings HOW TO USE ========== To use, press only ***ONE*** key at a time. The color of the screen will change colors. When you let go of the key, the screen returns to its original color. If you have sound enabled, then a click or a beep sound will play when you press a key. OPTIONS ======= To view KeyCheck's options, right-click in the window. The options are: * PC Speaker Audio - Plays a beep through your computer's internal speaker when you press a key. * Sound Card Audio - Plays a sound through the speakers when you press a key. (Hint: To turn off sound completely, click on the checked option. This will disable both sound card and PC speaker audio) * Settings... - Brings up the Settings dialog box (see below). * About KeyCheck... - Shows the About KeyCheck dialog box. * Exit - Exits the program. SETTINGS ======== To edit KeyCheck's settings, right-click in the window and select Settings. The settings are in four groups: * Audio * PC Speaker - Select this to play a sound through your PC speaker when you press a key. PC Speaker settings are: * Frequency - Changes the pitch of the sound * Duration - Changes the length of the sound * Sound Card - Select this to play a sound through your sound card when you press a key. Sound Card settings are: * Sound - You can change the sound played by selecting one of the 8 built-in sounds, or select Browse... to pick a sound on your hard drive. * None - Select this to disable all sound * Test - Click to test the current audio settings * Normal Color * Click one of the buttons in this group to change the default color when no keys are pressed * Highlight Color * Click one of the buttons in this group to change the color when a key is pressed (select the same color as Normal for no color change) * Other Settings * Error Highlight Length - Change the duration of the highlight when the Tab, Pause, or Windows keys are pressed. * Lock the Windows key - Select this to lock the Windows key while KeyCheck is running. This keeps the Start Menu from appearing when you press the Windows key. Note, however, that this also disables other shortcuts like Ctrl-Esc and Ctrl-Alt-Del. BUGS ==== * Print Screen key: The color doesn't change and the sound doesn't play. * Tab key, Pause/Break key, Windows key: The color changes for a set amount of time, then returns to normal, and the sound plays. * Windows key (without lock): After pressing, the Start Menu is shown.
