============================== PartsList 1.1 By JF Software - Joshua Foster http://www.jfsoftware.net joshua_70448@ureach.com October 25, 2002 ============================== TABLE OF CONTENTS ================= * Introduction * Using PartsList * Send-To Functionality * How to Contact INTRODUCTION ============ PartsList generates parts lists for any DAT or LDR file for the LDraw 3D modeling suite. USING PARTSLIST =============== To start PartsList, click its link in the Start Menu. Browse for the DAT or LDR file that you want a parts list for. The program will work on the parts list, then prompt for a location and name for the actual list (saved as a normal text [.txt] file). After you supply this information, the file is created and displayed to you in Windows Notepad. There are four sections: * Header: Contains the timestamp, PartsList copyright information, and total parts. * SORT BY NAME: Sorts the parts by name. * SORT BY PART #: Sorts the parts by their part numbers (filenames). * SORT BY # OF PARTS: Sorts the parts by their usage in the model (highest first). There are four columns in each of the last three sections: * Part Name: The descriptive name of the part * BFC Comp: BFC (Back-Face Culling) compatibility (is this outdated??) * Part #: The part number (filename) of the part. * # Parts: The number of times the part was used in the model SEND-TO FUNCTIONALITY ===================== If you select this option during Setup, then you can right-click any DAT or LDR file in Windows Explorer, select the Send To option, and select PartsList. This will start PartsList with that file as the input, only asking for a location and name for the actual list. This can save you time, but be careful not to use this Send To link with any other type of file (who knows what could happen?).
