“They’re here!” Roared ReconRebel.
At that instant, thick beams of green light shot out of the base turrets as they struck the deadly monsters. Bodies dropped from the sky as missile launchers popped out from protective platforms at the SAM sites. Instantly, missiles fired towards the cloud of submissions that continued to advance.

“What’s the status?” Asked gfoxcook, who quickly licked his lips in anticipation.
“So far, so good,” Responded ramagi. “We can’t hold this force forever.”

Submissions attempted to dodge falling bodies and green lasers as they swerved, weaved and ducked. They growled in a rage of unimaginable terror as they curled their bodies towards the structure. But enemy lasers and missiles took their opportunity to destroy them.
Suddenly, the speed of the suicidal vanguard slowed as half of the flying units dropped to the ground, continuing to charge. The units above maintained their speed.

SAMs ineffective against ground units!” Roared Crono-.
“Our defences cannot maintain both ground and air units!” Growled YoinK_VineS.
“What do we do then?” Gasped Qwoxyl, who had sweat rolling down his forehead in anticipation and fear.
“Nothing as of current,” Stuttered gfoxcook. “We have to watch…”

The oncoming submissions suddenly launched their own method of attack as they fired bolts of thunder, flame and exploding ice towards the base. All were blocked by the base defences.

“We cannot defend them and their attacks at the same time!” Roared ReconRebel, eyes twitching in fear. “We’ll have to turn on the annihilator defence system!”
“No – you can’t!” Cried D0GMA.
“We have no choice,” Muttered gfoxcook. “Recon, input sequence codes into the mainframe computer. Set annihilator to online and fire at free will. Now!”
At that instant, ReconRebel glued his fingers to the keyboard, typing like the elegance of a professional piano player. Yet this was no overture. This was life at stake.

The command tower of the base made a mechanical sound as it expanded outwards like a flower, the bud rising into a strange weapon of deadly scale. At once, it began to charge in solar energy from both the sun and any other form of light. Electricity that the base had been storing in the megawatt capacitors diverted to the weapons as the weapon became functional. From the command tower, a huge antenna with a directed tip in the shape of a triangular pyramid pointed at the enemy. The point of the weapon heated to a red colour under the intense heat of the electricity as it began to charge a bright blue light.

“Weapon status?” Asked YoinK_VineS, who was just as eager for the weapon to mobilize as the others.
Twenty percent.” Responded ramagi, who took a quick glance at the man’s face. She sighed as she looked to -Mazza-, who was staring at his husband to be.

Near the pinnacle of the black citadel, the three supreme guards of the Geminus lord stared at the battle ahead in disgust.
“Have any of them reached the target yet?” Asked one.
“Not yet,” Sighed the second one. “Pathetic.”
I think it’s time that one of us takes action.” Smiled the third one.
But brokensaint69!” The first one tried to stop him.
“No,” Smiled the submission. “This is my task and will be mine only. Farewell” He charged towards the balcony as he leaped away from the building, spreading his wings outwards, he flew like a peregrine falcon at superior speed towards the military base. Foolish humans, he thought. They would never stand a chance against…no, better not say the lord’s name.

“Sixty percent.” Said ramagi as she continued to wait for the progress bar on her computer to reach maximum. Alarms began to ring as she stared at the monitor in front of her in terror.
“Radar is detecting an unknown unit moving towards base at five hundred, six hundred, seven hundred, eight hundred miles an hour! Speed of sound broken! Sonic boom approaching! Eighty percent!”
The group stared in fear as they watched the red light on the main screen move faster and faster towards the centre of the target – the annihilator.
